When becoming an employee, you can expect to embrace the values of Innovation, The Value of the Individual, Learning, Employment, Self-Sufficiency, and Lasting Impact.    Job Summary   Hours of operation are 7:15a-3:45p.   The Department Supervisor directs and coordinates activities of the production department in processing materials or manufacturing products in an industrial organization by performing personally or through the group leaders.   - Coordinates daily production activities to meet safety, quality, output, and on-time delivery targets.  Uses data and continuous improvement tools to resolve internal and external corrective actions and drives process improvement. - Manages 2-4 subordinate Line Leaders who supervise a total of 100 hourly employees.   - Plans, assigns, and directs work; interviews, hires, and trains employees; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.   - Contributes as a key member of the Commercial Services management team.   Example Duties and Activities                                            - Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products, and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations. - Creates efficiencies with customers through communication and comprehension of deliverables. - Prepares labor schedules, establishes priorities, and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure effective, efficient labor utilization to meet production schedules.  Maintains awareness through communication with Line Leaders of the status of schedules and takes direct action when needed to resolve and/or prevent any delays. - Supervises departmental personnel, utilizing lean management techniques, such as 5S with a continual focus on waste minimization/elimination through the development and use of quality knowledge, adherence to quality requirements, and identifying/correcting operator-related scrap generation.  Conducts regular reviews of operator scrap generation, identifies the root cause and corrective action and establishes goals for improvement.   - Monitors and implements job methods and procedures in accordance with lean principles.  Coordinates efforts with group leaders.  Manages and utilizes systems to track continuous improvement project implementation and status. - Performs informal and formal performance reviews, offering praise for good performance and providing improvement goals and corrective actions for substandard performance through coaching, counseling, and individual continual feedback.  Motivates team members to gain and maintain their dedication to meeting individual and departmental goals. - Administers cross-training program for all employees, monitoring for skills and knowledge deficiencies; takes remedial action to provide the necessary training for all team members to reach and maintain the required performance level. - Heads safety and compliance for the department.  Ensures compliance with safety and environmental rules and regulations.  Maintains work area in a safe manner and ensures compliance to the 5S program.  Holds regular safety meetings and uses problem-solving techniques to identify root cause safety issues and enforce solid corrective action.  Assures compliance of employees to all state and federal regulations.  Creates preventative actions to meet specific safety goals of cost per employee, zero lost time accidents per year and conducts regularly scheduled safety audits.  Investigates and evaluates work-related injuries/illnesses.  Works closely with group leaders to prevent accidents and eliminate causes contributing to lost time and worker's compensation costs. - Inspects and performs routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.   - Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. - Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data. - Performs daily production meetings in the plant; creates and publishes daily/weekly/monthly metrics.

Directs all higher-level questions to the appropriate associate or manager. - Maintains cleanliness of sales floor (purge, colorize, run racks, and merchandise). Textiles or Wares Producer:  - Sorts product to identify quality and value (checks for holes, missing buttons, defective zippers, or stains and cleans as needed) and properly barbs, tags, and hangs textiles or wares.  Groups textiles (categorizing by light to dark and solid to prints). - Produces 100 pieces per hour adhering to Goodwill’s pricing standards and updates daily production tracking sheet. - Occasionally uses a pallet jack and regularly uses a conveyor belt. Donation Door Attendant: - Accepts donations from customers and maintains a clean and clear donation door while educating customers on current Goodwill promotions, including the rewards program. - Quickly and accurately sorts products and distributes them to appropriate areas. - Maintains an efficient working area by ensuring the backroom is clean and organized (all boxes labeled, everything in its place, and a place for everything). - Loads and unloads trucks as needed and regularly uses heavy equipment, including a pallet jack, double stacker, floor scrubber, and hydraulic lift. eCommerce Producer: - Develops a keen eye to identify and secure items of value for ClickGoodwill. - Stays informed of the market value of merchandise through eBay and other Internet shopping sites to properly tag, itemize, and secure items in totes for ClickGoodwill and educates team of eCommerce high ticket items. - Properly, efficiently and carefully palletizes, wraps, and ships totes to ClickGoodwill to meet store quota regarding totes shipped per week. e-Books Producer: - Scans books received by the store and decides what is sent to ClickGoodwill or displayed at the store location to meet the store quota. - Prints inventory sheets and packs, seals, and ships totes for ClickGoodwill. - Identifies top sellers and manages a clean, organized, in-store sales-effective display.
