Career and Technical Education Instructor - The Excel Center Michigan Street

The Career and Technical Education Instructor will instruct students in various technical and vocational courses, such as human services, information technology, and manufacturing. The CTE instructor teaches academic and technical content to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to enter an occupation. This role demonstrates behaviors consistent with our Mission, Vision and Values, on behalf of Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana.



  • Build and develop lesson plans and assignments, including the use of online learning tools and content.
  • Instruct and demonstrate how to apply knowledge and to develop skills.
  • Demonstrate and supervise the safe and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Monitor students’ progress, assign tasks, and grade assignments
  • Manages and monitors students’ learning experiences to ensure student engagement and accomplish learning goals.
  • Develop and enforce classroom rules and safety procedures.
  • Work with coaches and leadership staff to support students.
  • Attend all team and professional development meetings.


  • Bachelor’s degree in subject specialty desired AND professional certification in the field or two years of directly related work experience in the field of specialty OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction.
  • Experience working with high school age students in a nontraditional setting and/or in adult education setting highly preferred
  • Has working knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks: Google applications (specifically Gmail), Excel, Word and Internet Explorer
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong motivational skills
  • Adaptable to shifting priorities while attaining a positive learning environment
  • Ability to relate to a diverse population
  • Experience working with online learning is a plus
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check
  • Other duties as assigned
