The Operator III position provides training to department employees and effectively supports the department and continuous flow lines to maintain and ensure the department's workflow. This role demonstrates behaviors consistent with our Mission, Vision and Values, on behalf of Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana.


The Operator III may assume the responsibilities of an Operator II as needed. In addition, they may have the following responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with Goodwill’s Historic Values, Basic Principles and Standards of Conduct.
  • Hand assembles products as instructed by Production Team Leader/ERDS.
  • Distributes work orders to continuous flow lines and department employees.
  • Ensures that continuous flow lines have necessary materials.
  • Records metrics tied to daily goals and adjusts workflow as needed.
  • Supports department leadership as needed.
  • Trains department employees on highly skilled, specialty, and continuous flow line processes.
  • Facilitates daily meetings to review performance metrics.
  • Effectively communicates status of line to Operations Leader or other management.
  • Motivates line to achieve daily goals.
  • Provides training to department employees.
  • Fills in on continuous flow lines as needed.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures
  • Works as a team member
  • Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the organization.
  • Must strictly adhere to safety requirements.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Must maintain company quality and quantity standards.
  • Must have effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative and independent work situations and environments with
  • minimal supervision.
  • Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations.
  • Other duties may be assigned


  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Employment as an Operator II for a minimum of 2 months preferred
  • High school diploma/general education degree (GED) required
  • Previous leadership experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • May be asked to complete and pass all Quality System requirements to provide training at Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana. upon transitioning into the role.
  • Must be trained to all processes of assigned continuous flow lines and/or highly skilled department processes
  • Works as a team member
  • Must meet the Visual Acuity Screening Requirements of 20/40 vision using both eyes with and without correction
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Frequent repetitive motion
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to grasp, carry, feel or touch; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch; communicate
  • Proper attire/clothing and personal protective equipment/clothing as required within Controlled Manufacturing Areas
  • Moderate exposure to noise level in the work environment that is moderate to occasionally loud
