This is a great full time janitorial team lead position through Goodwill Commercial Services! The Christel House South Campus is located at 2717 S. East St., Indianapolis, IN 46225. Hours are Monday through Friday from 245p-10p. Janitorial and leadership experience highly preferred. 


Responsibilities include training employees; directing work; assuring satisfactory completion of work; inspections; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.


Keeps premises of office building or other commercial or institutional building in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.


Oversees activities of workers engaged in maintaining the cleanliness of the building by performing the following duties. 

  • Demonstrating behavior consistent with Goodwill Industries Historic Values, Basic Principles and Standards of Conduct
  • Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
  • Cleans office areas, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas
  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
  • Dusts furniture and equipment
  • Polishes metalwork
  • Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork
  • Washes windows, door panels, and sills
  • Empties wastebaskets, and empties and cleans ashtrays.
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies
  • Delivers messages
  • Transports small equipment or tools between departments
  • Sets up tables and chairs in auditorium or hall.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak and communicate effectively in English before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability:   Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.  The employee must be able to operate and control walk-behind and riding equipment such as scrubbing and buffing machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to potentially slippery floors and the moving mechanical parts of floor equipment. The employee will be exposed to dust, dirt, debris, and dust particles in the air.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
