    The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for job analysis, conducting time studies, and providing technical support for the Tremont production operations. Duties include analyzing job samples, conducting time studies. Provides technical support for production/plant equipment including PM schedules, troubleshooting, and new installations.  Additionally, is responsible for job set-up which consists of writing and maintaining work instruction manuals, creating standards and developing production training support materials.  Will assist in facility layout and operational data such as production costs, develop best practices and help reduce cost. Provides technical support to production team on an as-needed basis to troubleshoot and resolve equipment or process problems. Suggests and implements continuous improvement projects that result in greater efficiency, safety, quality, productivity, etc.  Works with outside vendors on equipment installations, repairs, or set-ups as needed. The position collaborates with other members of leadership to establish estimated costs, price quotes and proposals. Contributes as a key member of the management team, which consists of the Plant Manager, Engineer, Quality Assurance, Production Scheduling, Warehouse & Production Support, and Case Managers.     Job Set-up/Work Standards/Process Improvement

    • Develops and implements new job methods and procedures in accordance with lean principles.  Coordinates efforts with group leaders.
    • Creates and maintains work instructions in accordance with controlled copy standards and documents all processes. 
    • Sets production time and yield standards.
    • Conducts work studies for quotes and production standards.
    • Plans technical changes and layouts.
    • Recommends projects involving cost reduction, work simplification methods and standardization, material handling, layout and equipment justification analyses.
    • Manages and utilizes systems to track continuous improvement project implementation and status. 
    • Develops and implements training modules for manufacturing operations.
    • Executes successful new product start-ups and creates timely instructions and processes; acts as Project Manager as needed for implementation and start-up.

    Operations Leadership       

    • Manages customer requirements with team to ensure quantity and quality levels are achieved. Ensures timely delivery with correct documentation and product.
    • Plans, develops, organizes and implements systems and resources needed to fulfill customer demand.
    • Provides technical leadership for equipment and process operations. 
    • Leads Continuous Improvement and Lean project development and implementation. 
    • Ensures principles of preventative maintenance are applied for equipment and operations.

    Quote Development

    • Will work with Business Development Manager, etc to obtain necessary information for quotes and start-ups.
    • Gathers and reviews prototypes of work samples as needed
    • Performs labor cost analysis and time studies to determine the most efficient use of labor resources.
    • Utilizes Excel (or similar tools) to provide quote to prospect.  Will follow up to provide clarification and answer questions.
    • Sets production time and yield standards.
    • Plans technical changes and layouts.
    • Recommends, plans, and initiates projects involving cost reduction, work simplification methods and standardization, material handling, plant layout and equipment justification analyses.
    • Collaborates with management and others regarding manufacturing capabilities, schedules, and other production issues to facilitate production processes and initiate cost reduction.

    Technical Support/Special Projects

    • Respond to technical questions/issues and troubleshoot as needed.
    • Designs and creates fixtures, tools, or methods to improve operations; may work with outside technical experts for design and implementation.
    • Assist with 3rd party audits, including ISO 9000 and source inspections.
    • Participates and contributes on special projects and continuous improvement projects.
    • Management Review Team participant.
    • Other duties may be assigned.


    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or commensurate experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging, assembly, or manufacturing 
    • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Job costing experience utilizing an ERP highly preferred
    • Good mathematical ability
    • Solid communication and comprehension skills 
    • Mature interpersonal relationship skills
    • Self-directed
    • Problem solver, analytical thinker
    • Basic project management skills
    • Lean manufacturing principles
    • Auto Cad or Visio experience preferred.
