    Goodwill Education Initiatives (GEI) Data Team is seeking Interns to assist with program data quality and analysis at Goodwill of Central Indiana and Southern Indiana.  This is a great position for an individual seeking experience in data-driven decision making in non-profits, and the creation and execution of dynamic projects in a learning environment.



    The GEI Data Team leads various data driven initiatives across the organization. The Data Team Intern supports Goodwill Education Initiatives by ensuring data is available and digestible to provoke data-driven decisions for the organization.  The majority of the role is spent on assisting the Data Team in entering, verifying, mining, and report running across Department of Education (DOE) systems. Assignments will also encompass Goodwill’s case management system, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), Synergy, and Microsoft Excel. The Data Team Intern will support the team through maintaining and monitoring data quality, generating and confirming of reports as requested, and assisting with data entry.

    Goals of the Internship

    1. Develop and enhance proficiencies in data quality collection and verification techniques
    2. Develop and enhance technical skills to successfully navigate various software systems
    3. Provide project support to GEI Data Team members throughout duration of internship
    4. Entering of data, extractions, and cleaning up information to run reports, locate and fill in missing data points with accurate information
    5. Assist in identifying and piloting ways to improve data entry as opportunities may arise

    Internship Success

    • Ability to communicate and effectively build trust and partnerships with Goodwill employees of all levels across the organization
    • Able to meet deadlines and data accuracy standards, while driving timely and measurable results under guidance of the Data Team
    • High School Diploma preferred not required; students approaching graduation are encouraged to apply
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
    • Ability to work well with and eagerness to learn software systems, while ensuring data quality
    • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word
    • Ability to self-motivate, remain organized, perform independently, and receive direction well   
    • Must have and maintain access to reliable and consistent transportation
    • Open and willing to receive both technical and soft skill development, feedback, and coaching from GEI Data Team
    • Internet/Computer access not required outside of internship hours
