  • POSITION SUMMARY

    The Assistant Outlet Leader works in conjunction with his or her Outlet Leader, leadership team, and staff to execute store operational objectives that support the annual operating plan. He or she makes decisions involving customers, team members, operational issues, business planning, priority setting, creating staff schedules, team member performance appraisals, compliance with company policies, and all areas of the business.

     

    This position supports and drives Goodwill’s mission to help people in central Indiana prepare for, find and keep jobs.  This role demonstrates behaviors consistent with our Mission, Vision and Values, on behalf of Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana.

     

    Hours of Operation – Retail Stores and Outlets

    Opportunities in the retail division require availability within the site’s hours of operation. Opportunities in Leadership will require flexibility with your schedule around the retail site’s hours of operation.  Below are the hours of operation for our Retail Store and Outlet locations.

    8:00am to 10:00pm Monday thru Saturday

    10:00am to 8:00pm Sunday

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assists in maintaining quality standards.
    • Consistently demonstrates a hands-on leadership approach.
    • Drives completion of goals while balancing various business needs and remaining flexible.
    • Filters appropriate recommendations of process improvement.
    • Mission integration: Integrates and represents Goodwill’s Mission, Vision and Values to internal and external customers at all times.
    • Manages 15–50 full-time and part-time employees.
    • Fosters teamwork in a positive culture.
    • Notifies Outlet Leader of potential staffing needs and screens candidates.
    • Ensures team members are meeting production quotas through continuous training and development.
    • Communicates site-specific goals and expectations to staff daily.
    • Provides feedback on performance, conduct, and attendance.
    • Completes supply ordering and provides process improvement for P&L strategy.
    • Tracks and measures day-to-day sales, production goals, payroll, and donations.
    • Recruits, trains and retains a productive hourly workforce.
    • Achieves daily production goals while multitasking.
    • Effectively monitors and manages merchandising and inventory.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree strongly preferred or comparable work experience in lieu of a college degree
    • Military experience highly preferred
    • 1 year minimum management/leadership experience in a service-related industry
    • Basic math skills and problem-solving skills
    • Strong relationship-management abilities
    • Solid verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong computer skills, including solid understanding of Microsoft Office products and Internet navigation; familiarity with Google applications a plus
    • Hands-on, results-oriented, driven to achieve goals, and passionate
    • Basic analytical skills a must
