  • POSITION SUMMARY

    Under direction of the Principal, the Indianapolis Met Assistant Director – Special Populations serves as a member of the school’s core leadership team and assists in setting the direction of the school and developing a positive climate and culture. The Assistant Director’s primary responsibilities will be building and supporting systems to lead the school in the following areas: Special Education, 504s, ELL students, homebound, transition center, and support school/flexible schedules. This role demonstrates behaviors consistent with our Mission, Vision and Values, on behalf of Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate all aspects of special education programming, including but not limited to case conference planning and execution, student progress monitoring, and student services monitoring.
    • Establish clear policies and procedures as they relate to 504 programming.
    • Manage and coach all staff who are working with special populations.
    • Develop policies and procedures to support areas with special populations, including the transition center, resource center, and support school.
    • Provide leadership instruction with regard to English Language Learner population, including but not limited to ILP planning, EL student progress monitoring, and accommodation support.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required, Master’s degree preferred.
    • Current Indiana Secondary Administrator, preferred.  
    • Current Special Education Teacher License, preferred.
    • 2+ years in a school related leadership role.
    • Prior experience managing groups of professionals.
    • Strong communicator at a variety of levels.
    •  Demonstrates effective presentation skills.
    • Solid planning and organizing skills.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
