  • POSITION SUMMARY

    The Restorative Support Specialist assists the Assistant Principal, Student Services  in social-emotional programming and school-level operations. This role demonstrates behaviors consistent with our Mission, Vision and Values, on behalf of Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Plan and implement innovative disciplinary approaches and assist teachers in implementing such efforts when appropriate.
    • Encourage a constructive, thoughtful climate for learning.
    • Promote fairness of students and staff from all cultural backgrounds.
    • Communicate with students and staff in an effective manner.
    • Assist in organization of school Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS).
    • Help design, manage and implement information systems to manage and track progress on school’s goals and academic excellence indicators.
    • Assist in scheduling student activities by participating in the School Culture/PBIS committee.
    • Organize safety drill practices and inspections.
    • Manage support services, including tutoring and remediation.
    • Abide by all federal and state laws that apply to charter schools and charter policy.
    • Help students develop a positive behavior through a personal management system.
    • Proactively team and enforce school rules; oversee appropriate and reasonable student discipline.
    • Hold parent/teacher/student conferences concerning student and school discipline issues, including restorative practices.
    • Enrich job skills through professional development.
    • Convey the school’s mission to the public and encourage support in accomplishing the mission.
    • Illustrate understanding of school and community needs and begin activities to meet those needs.
    • Demonstrate use of productive and efficient skills to raise community and parent involvement.
    • Investigate reports and respond in ways that mitigate safety concerns and prevent future issues.
    • Coordinate the supervision and coverage duties of adults to ensure a safe and supervised environment.
    • Collaborate with coaches, social emotional specialist, and behavior specialist to build positive supports and interventions for students.
    • Serve as the liaison between the school and the IMPD officers, both on-site and in the community.
    • Serve as the liaison with Goodwill Safety and Security team.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required; master’s degree preferred
    • 5 years of teaching and/or administration experience in public school settings as a disciplinary person
    • Working knowledge of public/charter school operations
    • Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Capable of coordinating the school’s discipline-related operations
    • Working knowledge about following discipline codes and student progress
