  • POSITION SUMMARY

    Indianapolis Metropolitan High School is a free public school offering a high school education to students in grades 9-12. Indy Met is a best fit school for students experiencing significant barriers with an emphasis on ensuring students enroll in college or enter into a career that offers a living-wage post-graduation.

    Indianapolis Met is designed to serve all students, including those who face significant barriers. Barriers may include:

    • Teen pregnancy
    • Teen parenting
    • Involvement in Foster care
    • Homelessness

    • At-risk for mobility
    • Involvement with criminal justice

     

    As the Social Studies Teacher will serve as a member of the Humanities instructional team.  You will develop and implement a curriculum map for the Social Studies/Indiana Common Core State Standards and deliver instruction through project-based learning, inquiry, reading and analysis of high quality texts, explicit instruction in the writing process, technology, and differentiated instruction. You will work to mold the educational experiences of a diverse group of students.

      

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    What We're Looking For:

    To be successful in this position you would have this type of experience:

    • You have a Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 2 years instructing experience post licensing preferred.
    • You have a current Indiana Teaching Certification in subject specialty.
    • You're experience will be with working with high school age students in urban, nontraditional education.
    • You have the knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks: Google applications (specifically Gmail), Excel, Word and Internet Explorer
    • You are able to successfully pass a background check.
