POSITION SUMMARY

The Drop In Center is designed to provide free, temporary, short-term childcare for the students of the Excel Center until regular childcare is located.  The drop in center is available when students are studying on site or are in class and will serve children up to age 12.  A child may stay at the drop in center for a maximum of 4 hours each day. 

 

The Drop In Center Manager will ensure the safe and caring management of all the children entrusted to the drop in center, as well as the part-time staff, and other qualified participants. This means hiring, training, coaching, and managing staff engaged in monitoring children in the center, setting schedules, and developing learning opportunities for the children while in their care.  Additionally, will keep parents informed of policies and procedures at the center as well as provide effective resolution for any conflicts that should arise.

 

Center Hours of Operation: Hours range from 8:00AM-9:30PM Monday-Thursday & 8:00AM-5:00PM on Friday. Hours will vary depending on location.

 

Responsibilities

  • Create lesson plans, schedules, planned outings and field trips.
  • Create and maintain a task list to achieve timely completion of audit items.
  • Track and document attendance, snack usage, budget, ages, families served, etc.
  • Create monthly news letter for parents.
  • Create and deliver utilization report to Coaches, Center Director, and Director of the Drop In Center.
  • Order all supplies for location.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding services, enrollment, scheduling/routine changes and special events for the children.
  • Coach parents on how to create learning opportunities at home.
  • Participate in regular Excel Center team meetings.
  • Ensures all staff has appropriate tools to effectively perform their responsibilities. Including    updated training manuals, reference guides, and best practices procedures.
  • Evaluates performance of staff members and recommends indicated action.
  • Provides in-service training for team members in areas such as new policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Keep track of attendant’s documents, attendance and training. 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma and/or G.E.D required
  • Continuing Education in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a leadership role in a childcare setting highly preferred
  • Course work/training in early childhood development
  • Child/infant CPR certified/ TB testing
  • Has working knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks: Google Applications (specifically Gmail), Excel, Word and Internet Explorer.              
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have some team building, organization and excellent customer service skills
  • Flexible, energetic, and detail oriented
  • Have the ability to juggle multiple duties
  • Ability to resolve conflicts
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
